Vinted Members Express Anger Regarding Size Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has revised its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.
The platform stated the new system was more in line with other platforms.
The platform has recommended to examine their items and update the measurements by hand when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.
Size Classification Updates
Before the change, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she explained.
Manual Updates
A different user, from Derby, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she said.
Platform Context
The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: last year, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options following member complaints.
